December Bellabox

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! I know this post is a bit late but better late than never hey? December Bellabox is jam packed with goodies. When I opened the box, I was shocked at what was in my box.
John Frieda Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Creme ($16.99 for 113g - Received 30ml sample size) - This smells quite pleasant, it's my first John Frieda product. I've used it once but haven't noticed any improvement but I'll need to use it more before I can comment properly.

Allegra Rhodes Hand And Nail Cream ($32.95 for 175ml - Received 5ml sample size) - This hand cream smells amazing! The rich ingredients moisturises skin and strengthen nails. It absorbs quite quickly into the skin. Loving this so far.

Emergin C Multi-Fruit Cleanser ($55 for 240ml - Received 3ml sample size) & Protocell ($119 for 50ml - Received 3ml sample size) - I haven't tried these yet but according to Bellabox "containing super healthy and fresh plant and fruit derived miracle ingredients to nurture and protect your skin".

Compeed Blister Patches ($11.95 - Received one patch) - These patches are used to prevent blisters and help to heal existing blisters. They are said to repel, water, dirt and bateria. The other day I was walking around in the 38 degree heat and my feet had ugly blisters, I should have used it! Wish I read it earlier.

Savoir Faire Limited Edition Kit ($110 - Received full size) - This wowed me the most! When I opened my Bellabox, I thought my eyes were playing tricks with me lol I can't believe they actually included a full size kit in the December box! I think my kit is the summer edition which has a bronzer instead of a blush. Each kit contains: 6 eyeshadows, bronzer, eyeliner, mascara and a lip gloss.

Bellabox is a monthly subscription box, delivered to your doorstep for $15 a month. If you would like to sign up to Bellabox, please visit www.bellabox.com.au.

Review: Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil + Giveaway winner

Happy Tuesday!! I'm turning into a real slacker when it comes to blogging. I been sitting at home every night thinking I should be blogging but then I'll end up doing something else. This has been happening all week! Anywayyyy.. a few months a go, I went to check out Chemist Warehouse, wanted to see if they got any good bargains. Just so happens that Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil was on sale so I picked up a bottle. I can't remember how much I got it for but it was definitely a few bucks cheaper than the rrp.
Application: You can either use it before washing your hair to help nourish or before styling for protection. I usually use 2 pumps on my hands, rub them together and put it all over my hair.

Additional info:
  • Made in Israel
  • RRP $19.95 (100ml)
  • Availability: Large supermarkets and other retailers

What it feels like: A light clear oil

What I like:
  • Product doesn't weigh down my hair
  • Doesn't leave hair greasy like other oils
  • Adds definition to wavy hair
  • You can use the product any way you like
  • Leaves hair glossy
  • The scent of the oil is a little plan but it didn't bother me
  • Great packaging with the pump

Overall: This is my first hair oil I've used so I wouldn't have much to compare it to. I would like to try moroccan oil one day but every time I see the price tag, it puts me off. As you can see, I don't really spend much money hair products. I been using this oil after I blow dry my hair and I love the gloss it gives. You might think that because it's an oil it will cause your hair to get oily quicker but it's so not true with this product. I'm still washing my hair like every 3-4 days (gross? yes I'm lazy lol). Great product, try try try!!

Thank you to everyone who entered my Blogiversary Giveaway. The winner is yozellyn. I will be sending you an email shortly. Please respond within 2 days or a new winner will be chosen.

Thanks for reading!!!

Review: Lush The Sacred Truth Fresh Face Mask

Whoa man it's Wednesday!! That means exam tomorrow!!!!! I haven't had time to prepare a post this week so this is a something I prepared a month a go (reminds me of those cooking shows and here's what we prepared earlier lol).
................................................................................................
The other day I was in the city, I walked past the Swanston St Lush store. I thought to myself that I haven't bought any Lush face mask in a while so I picked up The Sacred Truth Fresh Face Mask. The lady at Lush said this was the best seller of the day so I gave it a go.

According to Lush "The truth is, we all need protection from ageing. The vital antioxidant action of wheatgrass, ginseng and green tea combines with fresh papaya, cleansing clays and nutritious butters to defend the skin. This mask delivers live, fresh, active ingredients, which enhance and refresh the complexion. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave for five to ten minutes, and then rinse away with warm water. Keep chilled."
Application: Apply a thick layer on a clean face avoiding the eye area. Leave for 10 mins then rinse off with water.

Additional info:
  • Made in Australia
  • RRP $15.95 75g
  • Not tested on animals

What it feels like: A smooth thick texture. From the photos it reminds me of black sesame ice cream.

What I like:
  • Does not irritate my skin
  • Leaves skin feeling soft

What I dislike:
  • My face felt oily the following morning
  • Not a fan of the scent of this face mask, smell lingers for a while
  • A little harder to wash off, I had to use a wash cloth to get most of it off

Overall: This face mask isn't for me but everyone's preference and skin type is different. Personally I wouldn't buy again. My all time favourite Lush face masks is still Love lettuce and BB seaweed, they are so awesome my face felt so smooth and clean.

Thanks for reading!!!

Guest post: Char reviews Garnier BB cream

Happy Tuesday All! Today I have a special guest, my cousin Char from Foodprints!! This is the first ever guest post hosted on my blog, quite exciting and I got to share it with my cousin. You also get a break from all the grammatical errors that I usually make lol Char will be reviewing the new Garnier BB cream Oily & Combination skin.
..............................................................................................................................................................
This is my first time guest blogging and reviewing make up (as my blog is just an outlet for my food adventures) but I was excited when asked by Kerri of The Ugly Moments (also known as my dear cousin) if I wanted to guest blog, of course I was more than willing!

I've been a long-time user of Garnier's BB Cream but have always found the old formula very dewy once applied and I would never leave the house without applying some powder foundation over it. Once it ran out, I was ready to switch BB creams until Kerri asked if I wanted Garnier's New BB Cream and of course I couldn't say no. And I'm glad I didn't!
The new formula is a great improvement from the old. It is now oil-free; leaving you with a matte finish. It's great if you're in the rush and don't have time to do your make up each morning which I'm guilty of most days. And on days I do have time, I find it is a good alternative to using a primer. It also doesn't have an obnoxious and over-bearing fragrance to it anymore. It is lighter than the old formula yet it doesn't compromise on coverage, as I've found this new formula to give much better coverage and much easier to blend in.
I've been using this product for over a week now and I've found that my pores have minimised and my skin is more hydrated. I highly recommend this product to everyone and anyone!

I hope you all enjoyed this guest post from Char. I would like to start monthly guest post on my blog for the next for months as a trial, it's nice to have someone different once in a while. Let me know if you would like to guest post on my blog next month, send me an email or tweet me! I'll try to schedule one guest post per month!

Review: Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free Makeup

The last few months, I have been on a search for a new base product. When I was offered to try the Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free Makeup*, I was so excited. I thought great something for my greasy forehead!!

What it claims "This lightweight gel-cream texture provides all day coverage with a mattifying finish and feels as comfortable as wearing nothing at all. Controls oil breakthrough and keeps skin shine-free, even in extreme heat and humidity all day. Contains shine absorbers to refine the look of troubled areas. Skin looks and feels flawless all day long."

Additional info:
  • RRP $50 (30ml)
  • 20 Shades ranging from very fair to deep
  • Available: Clinique counters or Online
  • Made in Belgium
  • Medium coverage

What I like:
  • It covers without clogging pores
  • Texture is creamy but light
  • Blends easily
  • Feels quite comfortable on the skin
  • Simple and clean packaging in a squeezable bottle
  • Great for summer

Overall: As this is a matte foundation, I wouldn't recommend this for people with dry skin. If you have normal to oily skin, this foundation is great. It doesn't eliminate all shine but it does reduce quite a bit. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for a matte foundation!!

Have you matte foundation before? Love/Hate it?

Rose-Hip Vital Rosehip Oil

I first discovered Rosehip Oil 2 years ago on the Vogue forums. All the girls on there were raving on about how awesomely good this product was. The curious me, had to try it out. After finishing the bottle, I forgotten about it until the lovely PR for Rose-Hip Vital asked if I wanted to try out their recently launched Rosehip Oil Organic Cold Press*. You might be thinking what's cold press? It means that it's extracted without using heat or chemicals so the product is more beneficial for you.

Why use Rosehip Oil?
  • Reduce appearance of stretchmarks and scars
  • Maintain skin hydration
  • Improve the appearance of dry skin
  • Diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Promote skin elasticity and texture
  • Repair sun damage and skin tissue
  • Reduce pigmentation

Additional info:
  • RRP $19.95 (30ml)
  • Available: Leading pharmacies and health food stores

Application: I like to have my face and hands damp when using the oil. Add 3 drops of the Rosehip Oil onto hand and rub it around the face. I use this once every 2-3 nights. I find that if i start using it every night, it starts to clog my pores. This replaces my night moisteriser on the nights I'm using the oil.

What I like:
  • The smell is not as strong as other Rosehip Oil
  • Face look clearer with reduce red blotches on my face
  • Great for all skin types
  • Excellent price

Overall: Great product and price. Only downside is if you use it every night, your pillow might get a little stinky lol If you're looking for something that will improve your skin condition, this is a must!

Have you tried Rosehip Oil? Love/Hate it? Tell me!!

Review: Dermalogica Skin Perfect Primer SPF30

A good few months ago, I was invited to a beauty bloggers event at Dermalogica. It was a great night held at their training centre in South Melbourne. One of the products introduced to us was the Dermalogica Skin Perfect Primer SPF30*. I have been using the Skin Perfect Primer since.

According to Dermalogica "combines cutting-edge professional skin care technology with a polished cosmetic effect to smooth, protect and condition skin while correcting surface irregularities and creating a luminous finish".
    Additional info:
    • Made in USA
    • RRP $79 (22ml)
    • Available: Online

Application: This can be worn alone or as a foundation prep.

    Ingredients and what they do:
    • Silicones & Soy Protein to even out skin texture
    • Natural Minerals to give the natural tint
    • Petide to improve skin firmness
    • White Tea polyphenols inhibit collagen damage
    • Pearl Powder provides that slight glow

    What I like:
    • Helps your foundation lasts longer, creates a smooth canvas
    • Works great with all types of foundation. I've tried it on liquid and powder foundation
    • I love the SPF in it, not many primers actually have SPF in them
    • Free of artificial fragrances and colours
    • The colour of this primer is similar to chocolate mousse. For me, it goes on with a very very slight tint so for girls with very fair skin you might see a bit more
    • It didn't break me out
    • Great for combination to oily skin types

Overall: After 3 months of using this product, I'm still in love with it. Although the price is a little steep, a little product does go a long way with this primer. This is certainly a great product and you should definitely try it out for yourself.

      What primer do you use?

      Vanity Box Jewellery

Happy Thursday!! Today I will be reviewing accessories from Vanity Box. A month back, I received an email from Vanity Box asking if I would like to review their products. Prior to the email, I've always looked around their site thinking how cute their stuff was but never purchased anything. Vanity Box asked me pick a few items to review. One thing that really surprised me was the quality of their jewellery.
This is my favourite piece - The Mirabelle. I wore this to work and one of my coworker kept complimenting, she even took it off me for a while and claimed it as her own lol I love the chains with the added crystals.
Blueberry Heaven is a very pretty looking bracelet. Blueberry Heaven comes with 3 pearl and crystal stretch bracelets. The weight of this bracelet is light but not flimsy. I haven't worn these out yet mainly because it's winter and I wear too much black clothing. I'm just waiting for warmer weather so I can whip out these babies to wear.
Kate's bow ring is awesome. Initially when I picked it, I thought it was plastic but this ring is made out of metal. It's a little heavier but very sturdy. As you can see from the photos, the quality of this ring is fantastic.

The package arrived within a few days and the packaging was really secure. There were even 3 pieces of chocolate attached. I ate them straight away, chocolate never lasts long around me. Overall, I'm loving the items that were sent to me! Thank you Vanity Box!!! If you find extra bad grammar and typos in this post, I'm really sorry. Been working really long hours and by the time I get home, I just want to sleep which is what I'll be doing after this post goes live. Good night!!

Have you shopped at Vanity Box before?

Arbonne Makeup Primer & Perfecting Liquid Foundation

Oh my gosh, how fast does the weekend go by?? Sorry I haven't posted much this week, work has been rather hectic and I haven't had time to write up anything. For the past week, I have been trialing Arbonne's Primer* & Perfecting Liquid Foundation*.

      What they say

Foundation: "Arbonne's Perfecting Liquid Foundation SPF 15 is the ultimate in liquid foundation technology with polypeptides, gliding seamlessly onto the skin creating an even smooth tone."

Primer: "Prepare your skin for a flawless foundation application, with Arbonne's Makeup Primer, packed with antioxidants and moisturising properties that help to prepare a canvas for flawless makeup application, by reducing the appearance of pores and fine lines."
When I wear foundation, I always make sure I'm wearing a primer underneath. Why? Because primer as a barrier between your skin and makeup which helps to protect your skin. Using a primer will also make your foundation lasts longer and gives you a flawless look. The texture of the Arbonne Makeup Primer is a clear gel. The pump dispenses just enough for the whole face, only a thin layer is sufficient. My skin felt silky and smooth to touch. I left it on for about a minute just so it can settle before I applied the foundation. This is a great primer, I been using it everyday since I got it.

Free of Parabens, Phthalates and Talc

      RRP: $50 AUD
For the Perfecting Liquid Foundation SPF15, I chose shade Honey Beige which suited my skin tone quite well. The tone of this foundation is yellow base. The shade blends really well with my skin tone and also covers up any imperfections. You don't need to use a lot of product, half a pump will cover one cheek. It was quite easy to remove this foundation, I used my usual cleanser and it came off almost immediately. One thing I did notice is that this foundation is probably more suited for Combination to Oily skin. Whilst it did work really well, if you have dry patches on your face like me, the foundation sticks to the flaky skin.

Free of Parabens, Phthalates and Talc

      RRP: $55AUD

Arbonne products are available at www.arbonneinternational.com.au

Have you tried Arbonne products? What did you think?

Review: Toni & Guy Creative Texturising Glue

Happy Sunday!! Today I will be reviewing Toni & Guy Creative Texturising Glue*!! I'm sure you all know how important hairstyles are, not only they do improve your look it also helps with improving self-esteem. If I'm feeling down, I always head straight to my hairdresser and do something different. It always cheers me up! I was introduced to Toni & Guy Texturising Glue which gives you the edgy new look to style up your new cut. I got B (my hubby) to trial this product because my hair is too long to do anything with it lol

According to Toni & Guy "Contours and separates layers for firm hold whilst adding texture. Perfect for fringes, textured lengths or layers. Work product through dry or towel-dried hair with fingers and spread from root to tip".

      Additional info:
      • Made in USA
      • RRP $15.99
      • Availability: Woolworths, Coles, Priceline and Big W

Application: Squirt a bit of product onto fingers and work through hair from root to tip.

      What he likes:
      • Hair looks soft but firm when you touch it
      • Natural looking
      • Hair moulds easily to how you want to style it
      • A little product is sufficient
      • Doesn't make your hair sticky and easy to wash off
      • Strong hold
      • Lovely scent

Overall: B says this is a good product, he was surprised at how this creamy textured product can hold so well. To put this product to the test, B styled his hair and he went to play tennis. Two hours later, his hair was the same as when he left the apartment. B gives it a thumbs up, if you have short hair and want something that has a decent hold, definitely try this out!

What hair styling products do you use?

Review: Necessity Fixaderm 100% Natural Skin Repair

I dunno about you but I quite enjoy hot showers but I was reading that if you take long showers it softens and removes the protective oils that our skin naturally produces. So this explains why my back is so dry and patchy. Some days are worse than others. Sometimes when I'm asleep at night, im scratching like crazy. Since I can't control the itching at night, it leaves me with scars. I was received an email asking if I wanted to try Necessity Fixaderm*. I read through the benefits and thought I should give it a go on my itchy back lol

According to Necessity "Fixaderm is made from the finest quality essential and plant oils. The blend of 11 oils has been tested and refined over several years, resulting in a unique formula that may alleviate skin discomfort, help prevent infection and help promote healing. The five active oils, Calendula, Lavender, Patchouli, Rosehip, and Tea Tree are well known for relieving a range of skin problems. These active oils interact with the six excipient oils, Almond, Camellia, Jojoba, Evening Primrose, Niaouli, and Rosewood to provide a comfortable skin repair solution for damage caused by a wide range of conditions."
        Necessity Fixaderm may help:
        • Relieve itching, discomfort and may promote healing for cuts, and insect bites
        • Clear up range of skin problems including rashes, prickly heat, tinea, nail infections
        • Keep skin clear of infections
        • Provide immediate relief and may promote healing of minor burns and sunburns
        • Reduce the appearance of stretchmarks and scars
        • Restore sun-damage skin
        • Clear up dermatitis

Application: I apply it straight out of the shower because I believe its the best time for your skin to absorb the oils. I use about 4-5 drops directly from the bottle and rub it onto my back (try to reach as far back as I can lol)

        Additional info:
        • Made in Australia
        • RRP $14.95 AUD for 30ml
        • Availability: Health stores and chemist or online www.necessity.net.au

        What I like:

        • Non-greasy
        • 100% natural no chemicals
        • Reduce itchiness
        • Reduces the appearance of my scars
        • The scent smells good
        • Great price
        • Design of the bottle - If you look at my photo, it looks like it's reversed but it actually quite a nifty design - it stops bacteria from getting inside and it also prevent spills

Overall: I have tried this product on my back and 1 pimple. I had this weird acne thing a week ago and it was hurting like anything so I thought I would rub some fixaderm on it, the next morning it was painless and it even shrunk a bit!! What I love about this product is that it has this cool and calming effect on your skin. I would buy this once my current bottle runs out. It's a handy little bottle to have around the house, never know when you're going to need it.

          Thanks for reading =)

          Review: Bloggy Personal Planner

A month ago, the awesome peeps at Personal-Planner asked if I wanted to create my own customised planner*, seriously who wouldn't want a personalised planner? Timing was good too because I recently went back to studying.

This site is great for creating customised planner. The designing process is so easy and it takes you through step by step in creating the look you want and need.
You can select different sizes for your planner from small to large and now they recently added A5. I chose the A5 because it's perfect size for the handbag. I made pretty much everything pink. It comes with a ruler and plastic sleeve which I'm currently using it to store my business cards.
Then you select the way you want the pages to look e.g date layout, colour schemes, todo list, gym workout. The best feature would be that you can add birthdays and anniversaries. An even niftier option is you can import it straight from facebook.
Delivery time took about 2 weeks, it came exactly how I expected it. The paper quality is great, thick and durable makes writing on it very easy. Overall, I am very happy with this planner and would love to order another one next year.

If you guys are interested in creating your own planner or notebook, Personal-Planner has offered a coupon code. Use D-GRNT-RUXI for 20% off your order, expires on the 14th of September so get in quick!!!

Cetaphil Restoraderm Skin Restoring Body Wash & Moisteriser

This week is Eczema Awareness Week. The aim is to raise awareness of eczema and as a source of help and support for those affected. Eczema affects one in three Australian at some point in their lives (mostly commonly occurring in infants). Symptoms of Eczema are itchy skin, reoccuring rash, thick skin and lesions.

Currently there is no cure for ezcema but it can be kept under control by treatment and maintaining a daily skin care routine. Treatment include tropical corticoteroids, antihistamines and antibiotics. It is also important to find a good soap and moisturiser for eczema prone skin.

Cetaphil Restoraderm skin restoring body wash* and moisteriser* work together to improve skin hydration and maintain skin barrier integrity in children and adults.

The body wash is fragrance free and soap free which helps with the skins natural barrier and restores moister back to dry skin. The body moisturiser is the perfect compliment to the body wash. It is a light, creamy and non-greasy moisteriser which helps to moisturise very dry, itchy and sensitive skin. Because it is non-greasy, it will absorb quickly into the skin leaving it soft and soothed. By using these products, it doesn't guarantee that dry itchy skin will completely disappear, it will only lessen the severity.

          Additional info:
          • Price:
            • Body wash $19.99 (295ml)
            • Moisturiser $25.99 (295ml)
          • Availability: Pharmacies and large retailers

Do you or know anyone who suffers from Eczema?

Review: Glam By Manicare Femme Fatale Kourtney lash

This post was written a few weeks back and I forgot to schedule it! I am not one that wears false lashes much. Reason being that my eyes are too dry for contact lenses and I'm stuck with wearing my glasses. I was given the opportunity to review the new Glam By Manicare Femme Fatale Kourtney lash* which was pretty exciting!!

Only managed to take a pic with it on lol the rest were too dark or my eyes look weird. I think I have uneven eyes, they look really weird in photos.

          Additional info:
          • Product made in Indonesia, packaged in China
          • RRP $11.95

          What I like:
          • Comes with a small bottle of adhesive. When I do use fake eyelashes, I like to carry some adhesive in my bag for those emergency situations.
          • Durable and one pair should last a good 4-5 usage
          • Length of the lashes is good!! Looks a little weird at the start since I'm use to short little asian lashes.

          What I dislike:
          • Well not really a dislike but the lash strip was pretty long, I had to trim off part of it because I have small asian eyes lol
          • The glitter band was a little thick for me

Overall: These lashes are great, if only I could wear them more often! Why do I have to be so blind?? A random thought, back when I was younger, I remembered I loved wearing glasses thought it was cool.

          Thanks for reading!!!

Review: Real Techniques Makeup Brushes - Core Collection & Blush Brush

Say Hello to my new real techniques makeup brushes! Finally getting around to writing about them, probably one of the very last bloggers to be reviewing these! I bought my brushes off iHerb after resisting it for a while because the site looked kinda dodgy but then I realised a bunch of other bloggers bought it off this site so it was pretty reliable!
I purchased the core collection $17.99 and blush brush $8.99, used the $5 coupon so shipping was practically free! Saw these babies at Priceline yesterday for $44.99 & $22.99, still don't comprehend the huge price differences in Australia.
Blush Brush is mega soft. This brush is probably the cutest brush I own, comes in metallic pink handle and has a rubber end which helps it stand on its own. The bristles are longer on the inside and shorter for the outter bristles. The brush glides across cheeks quite easily and distributes the blush evenly. Definitely an awesome brush!

The Core Collection comes with 4 brushes - Detailer Brush, Pointed Foundation Brush, Buffing Brush & Contour Brush. It also comes with this nifty case to carry the brushes in (forgot to take a photo of it).
Buffing Brush is quite round and the bristles have quite a bit of room to breathe. When compared my Sigma F80, this is not as dense. This brush leaves your skin looking flawless without the streakiness. The thickness of the handle gives you the perfect grip.
Contour Brush is dome shaped and quite small in size. This brush is would be good for smaller surfaces such as browbone and nose. I haven't used this brush yet so not much to say about it.
Pointed Foundation Brush is about half the size of a normal foundation brush. I don't think this brush is suitable for applying foundation, it will take too much time and I 'm simply not a patient person. More suitable as a concealer brush in my opinion.
Detailed Brush is also very tiny. The feel of the brush is a little harder than the others, great for when you need precision in hard to get areas. The brush is good for putting on concealer around the eye area or getting around sides of the nose. I would prefer a larger brush as it takes less time.

Overall I'm quite happy with these brushes and for the price that they are selling for, it is value for money! A big thumbs up from me!

Have you tried Real Technique brushes? If so, which ones?

No synthetic fragrances, articificial colours, parabens or petro-chemicals.
          Natural anti-ageing ingredients

I was lucky enough to be sent 2 products from the Santorini range to try out -Sweet Orange & Almond Sea Salt Scrub and Hydrating Body Lotion.

Santorini Sweet Orange & Almond Sea Salt Scrub* leaves your skin soft and smooth. This scrub is perfect for a pre-tan prep. Good exfoliation is important for tanning - it helps the skin absorbs better and also last longer. The salts are scented with almond and orange oils so you won't be smell like seaweed lol Overall a very lovely exfoliator.
          RRP: $18.95 for 250ml

Santorini hydrating body lotion* leaves your skin feeling soft and supple. The body lotion smells really nice!! The formula is light and velvety that works to deeply nourish skin without leaving that greasy feeling. When applying, you may want to be careful when squirting it out, the bottle is a little hard. So when I did manage to squirt stuff out, too much bursted out and I applied wayyy more than I needed to.
          RRP: $21.60 for 250ml

Have you tried any of the Santorini products before?

P.S Anyone going to IMATS Sydney this year? I haven't found an IMATS buddy yet so if you're going, let me know and I'll tag along with you.
