Review: St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub

Happy Tuesday!! Glad Monday is over with! I've been using St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub for about 8 months now and found it to be quite a good exfoliator to have around the bathroom.

According to St. Ives "This Apricot Scrub with gentle alpha hydroxy, visibly tones and firms, revealing younger-looking skin."

Application:
Use once or twice a week. Moisten face with water, squirt some onto your finger tips and massage onto face using circular motions. Wash off once you're done.

Additional info:
  • Made in Australia
  • RRP $9.95 AUD (150ml)
  • Availability: Big W, Priceline, pharmacies, large retailers
  • Not tested on animals

What I like:

  • Exfoliating beads aren't too scratchy
  • I love exfoliators where you can feel the beads, for some reason if I cant feel it, I think its not working lol
  • Lovely apricot scent
  • Leaves skin feeling smooth
  • Formulated without parabens and phthalates
  • Affordable

What I dislike:
  • May not be suitable for really sensitive skin

Overall: Although the packaging says you can use this 3-4 times a week, I wouldn't. Initially, when I first bought this I used it every second day and found that it makes me skin feel really tight and it was starting to get a little flaky. I reduced it to once or twice a week and it was much better, no more flaky or tight skin. This is a pretty good exfoliator for it's price and I would buy again.

Have you tried St. Ives Apricot Scrub? What did you think?

Review: Face of Australia Translucent Loose Powder

Happy Saturday!!! Today I will be reviewing Face of Australia Translucent Loose Powder*. I've always set my foundation or BB cream in powder. I like how after you apply powder your face feels smoother and less sticky which also helps your make up lasts longer too!

According to FOA "This finely ground, translucent face powder enables you to achieve a professional finish to your make-up application. The refined textured powder controls shine and helps prevent oil breakthrough whilst adding a hint of colour for a smooth, natural looking complexion."

Sorry no swatches, kinda hard to swatch something that is suppose to be translucent lol

Application: Gently dab your brush in a few times in the powder but not too hard. Apply powder to you face by using light sweeps, concentrate on areas that get oily the quickest such as your nose, forehead, chin and cheeks.

Additional info:
  • Made in Australia
  • RRP $11.95 AUD
  • Availability: Big W, Priceline, pharmacies
  • Not tested on animals

What I like:

  • Powder is very fine and lightweight
  • Looks very natural
  • Lasts all day
  • Takes away the oily shine
  • Matte finish
  • Even though it looks beige in the container, it applies translucent on the skin which is great for any skin tone
  • Value for money

What I dislike:

  • As with any powder, if you're not careful when twisting the lid open, it might get a little messy.

Overall: The good thing with this powder is because it's beige you will rarely get the pale ghostly look when you apply too much on. I used it to set my BB cream because I don't like that dewy shiny look and it lasted all day. A very good product for its price.

What powder do you use to set your makeup?

Review: Apivita express gold with prickly pear face mask

Apivita products are inspired by 3 components: the Honey Bee, Greek Nature and Hippocrates’ Holistic Approach. I had the pleasure of trying Apivita express gold with prickly pear face mask* a few weeks a go and loved it.

According to Apivita "Prickly pear, known as “the new aloe vera”, works to moisturize and revitalize skin while enhancing firmness. Wheat germ oil and shea butter leave the skin feeling exceptionally soft and supple. Lavender essential oil soothes irritations and its aromatic properties relax the sensesExclusive innovation: APIVITA replaces water in the express gold line with green tea infusion to enhance the antioxidant action."

Application: Apply a thick layer on a clean face avoiding the eye area. Leave for 10 mins then rinse off with water.

Additional info:

What it feels like: It feels creamy (similar to mayonnaise) lol The mask isn't the type that dries on your face, even after 10mins it's still pretty moist.

What I like:
  • 92% natural ingredients
  • Light and fruity, the scent was just right and not too overpowering
  • Leaves skin feeling soft and moisterised
  • Packaged in single use packets, if you are conservative you can use 2x per packet. I found a packet is too much for single use.
  • Free of: Parabens, Silicones and Propylene Glycol.

What I dislike: Nothing

Overall: I like this mask and would definitely use it again. I love waking up to a smooth face.

Have you tried the Apivita face mask?

Review: Kuu Konjac Sponge

Happy Tuesday!!! So you might be thinking what is Kuu Konjac?? Konjac is a traditional Japanese jelly-like health food made from a type of potato called "Konnyaku potato". In Japan the Konjac (Konnyaku) sponge has been used for its medicinal properties for over 1500 years. For over a century the Japanese have been using the Konjac vegetable as a beauty treatment for their delicate skin.

How does these sponges work?
"The KUU Konjac Sponge gently cleanses and soothes the skin by removing dirt and oil, naturally restoring the pH level of the skin. Cleansing helps to stimulate blood flow and encourage new skin cells, revitalising the complexion without damaging the skin.

The KUU Konjac sponge is highly absorbent in both water and oils and is excellent for thorough cleansing of impurities. The pH level of the sponge is an alkaline and has the function to break down dirt and neautralise acidic and oily areas."
Kuu Konjac with added French Green Clay* / Kuu Konjac Pure*

How to use: Rinse the sponge before use. Use sponge in circular motion on face. When finish rinse sponge and hang to dry. I used it on its own without cleanser. You can use this with a cleanser or on its own.

Additional info:

What I like:
  • The sponges feel very smooth on your face, so you won't get the scratchy feel
  • 100% handmade
  • No chemicals or additives
  • Stimulates blood circulation
  • Sustainable & Biodegradable - at the end of the life cycle just throw the sponge into your compost
  • Leaves skin feeling soft & smooth (you don't see it right away, need to use it for a few days before you see any results)

What I dislike:
  • Probably not widely available.

Overall: I would definitely buy this sponge when my current ones are done.

Have out tried these sponges before? What did you think?

Birthday weekend!

Happy Sunday!!! I took Friday off work to celebrate my birthday. YEP I turned 18 again! haha I spent the whole day indulging in naughty foods. I got myself a pearl milk tea, haven't had one this since high school. Can you believe this one drink is 400ish calories?? Pretty insane I tell ya. After lunch, I had a cookies and cream cupcake from Melbourne Central. This cake was delicious, I could have eaten another 4 of them lol!!
For dinner, we went to Meat & Wine Co. I got the fillet and had a berry sour cocktail to go with it. Dessert we had a chocolate and pistachio fondant. After dinner, we went to karoake. I actually did pretty well singing the whole night with a cold lol Saturday was spent recovering.
Saturday night celebrated with the family. My sis and her bf's bday is a few days after mine so we usually have a joint dinner together. This year we decided to get a chinese-viet cake from Springvale. The O Clock watch is one of my presents.

Another year has gone by, how quick has it been?

Hope you have a lovely weekend!!!

Review: Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Blush

If you follow me on twitter, you will probably notice I love to enter competitions held on twitter. I was lucky enough to win an Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Blush Screen Siren from Australis a few weeks ago.

Formulated with light reflecting and balancing photochromatic pigments that assist to create instant camera ready photos. Pigment is high in Mica content providing intense colour payoff. The blush is enriched with Jojoba and Grape seed oil to lock in skin moisture and soothe the skin."

You guys can enjoy my hairy arms lol I found it really hard swatching blush on my wrist.
This is with all 4 colours are mixed in together

Additional info:

  • RRP $12.95
  • Availability Priceline, Big W and other leading retailers
  • Comes in 4 shades

Review: Cedel Dry Shampoo

If you asked me a year ago if I would use dry shampoo, I would probably have told you 'no way!'. I didn't believe this stuff would work. One day I feeling really lazy at home and I couldn't be bothered washing my hair (this happens quite often). I could feel the oil and grease building up. I took out a travel size Cedel shampoo my sis gave me a while ago and sprayed it in my hair. My fringe instantly looked normal again. I couldn't believe it! I thought to myself 'wow now I don't have to wash my hair as often' sounds gross but true lol.

This photo makes me look old, looks like I have a lot of greys. I usually just spray near or on the roots that's where my hair gets oily. You probably won't want to spray as much as I did, only because I wanted to make it show in photos.

Application: Spray the dry shampoo to the oily parts in your hair, leave it for 1-2mins so that it can soak up the oily goodness then brush out with a comb.

Additional info:
  • Made in Australia
  • RRP $7.99

 Pros:
  • Affordable
  • Convenient
  • Love the purple packaging
  • Leaves hair feeling clean

Cons:
  • The scent is too strong

Overall: I'm happy with this product and will buy again when this runs out. This product is very handy for travelling but it's not a replacement for washing your hair. Your hair is still dirty but just less noticeable.

Review: Face of Australia Colour Max Eyeshadow Palette Gold Mine

For some strange reason when I go shopping for make up, I am always drawn to neutral colours. I think one of the reasons why I always end up with conservative colours so I can wear it to work to get the most value out of my money. When I saw Face of Australia Colour Max Eyeshadow Palette in Gold Mine* on their website - I wanted it! Each compact features 4 beautiful colours.

According to FOA "Soft, silky formula glides on effortlessly and lasts from day to night without fading or creasing."

I love the 'how to' guide at the back of the palette, great for newbies like me who usually buys a palette but have no idea where to put what lol

When swatching, I found 'a' was really hard to get the colour on my arm because it's suppose to be a slight simmer on the eyelids. I just love 'd' its a really warm gold colour, applies like butter!

Application:
  • Can be applied wet or dry. I've always applied it on dry, feels weird having wet stuff on my eyes.

Additional info:
  • RRP $10.95
  • Available Big W, Priceline, Kmart or Online
  • Made in PRC
  • Not tested on animals

Pros:
  • Colours blend easily
  • Good color pigmentation
  • Love the packaging
  • Absolutely love the instructions on the back

Cons:
  • Applicator might be too small if you have fat fingers like me lol

Overall:
This is a really good quality product for its price. This eye shadow can last a few hours with no primer on (my eye lids get oily easily) and with primer it's about all day.To get around the applicator problem I just used my own eye brushes.

Have you tried this eyeshadow? What are your thoughts?

Bloggy business cards!!!

Happy Wednesday!! My blog business cards has finally arrived!! It took a good 4 weeks to be delivered. You may be asking why do I need business cards for my blog?? Well I don't need it lol, I thought these guys were pretty cute so I ordered them (a random moment). I have no use for business cards what so ever maybe I can drop one here and there hoping someone will pick it up lol.

I bought 100 mini business cards from moo which will last me a life time. All up it cost me $18 (incl. delivery), pretty decent pricing. Even though the theme of these cards don't really go with the theme of my blog, I thought these girls are asian and I'm asian so we have something in common there.
I have been obsessing over my QR code, fascinated at how this black messy thing can be linked to my blog. Probably one of the reasons why I got the cards is to attach my QR code onto it lol

Now I need some advice

Does anyone else have business cards for their blogs? Who and when do you give them out?

Thanks for reading!!

Review: Dior Long Wear Eyeliner Waterproof #94

Hi Ladies! I wanted to show you today my favourite eyeliner - Dior Long Wear Eyeliner Waterproof. I'm a hoarder, I like to buy and buy but never use anything. I found this the other day in my make up pile never opened brand new. I think I bought the eyeliner 1.5 yrs ago (I think?) and I'm still using the very first one I bought from Dior 2 yrs ago. I thought that I would need a replacement real quick but turns out I didn't lol So this may mean that the packaging might have changed in comparison with the same eyeliner in the shops.

My eyes get really teary when I yawn and for some strange reason I spend a lot of time yawning lol My eyeliner has to be long lasting and waterproof otherwise I end up looking like a panda.

According to Dior "Create a glamorous, long-lasting look in the blink of an eye! Formulated with volatile silicones, this liner offers intense color, record wear and excellent water resistance."

It comes with a sharpener! There are two ends of this pencil, one is the eyeliner itself and the other is the foam tip.
A very intense black
The foam tip helps soften the line or to create that smokey eye look.
A swatch of what the eyeliner looks like. Colour intensity between 1 & 2 strokes.

Additional info:
  • Price: I don't remember how much it is LOL I'm sorry!!
  • Made in Germany
Pros:
  • Does not irritate my eyes
  • Bold colour
  • Long lasting (on top eye lid)
  • Tear proof
  • Easy to put on and take off
Cons:
  • From memory I remember it being expensive
  • Sometimes I can still look like a panda if I line my lower lash line

Overall: This eyeliner is great! I have used my first crayon/pencil for 2yrs and only just now it has finished (I don't use eyeliner everyday though so it will definitely finish faster for those who use it everyday).

What is your favourite or HG eyeliner?

Review: Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons

Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons hit the shops at the start of June. There has been so much hype about these lip crayons, I had to try it out for myself! In the last two weeks, I have searched high and low for these, most places were sold out!! I finally found it at Priceline on Bourke St opposite Target (if you get in quick they still had 3 more boxes left as of Sunday afternoon).

According to FOA "Lip colour has never been so fun and sweet with Face of Australia’s NEW Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons. These wind-up lip tints are smooth, moisturizing and smell like vanilla!".

These lip crayons are mega cute! They have dessert inspired names. Comes in 3 colours - Macaron, Cupcake & Sundae.
 Macaron - sheer strawberry pink
Sundae - Sheer brown. Looks ok on but I'm not a fan of brown stuff. I feel like it doesn't do much for me. I've seen this look amazing on other girls.
Cupcake - Sheer light pink. This is probably my favourite out of the 3. Gives your lips a nice gloss with a hint of pink.
Swatches from Left: Cupcake, Macaron & Sundae

I tried to make my swatches as neat as possible but for some reason they are always so messy. A 5yr could have swatched better than me lol

Additional info:
  • RRP $14.95 AUD
  • Made in Taiwan
  • Not tested on animals

Pros:
  • Lovely vanilla scent
  • Moisterising
  • Light
  • Non-sticky - woo hoo no more hair sticking to my face!!
  • Glides very smoothly across the lips
  • Love the wind up applicator - good bye sharpeners!
  • Affordable

Cons:
  • NONE - it's that amazing!

Overall: These lip crayons are fantastic, they do not disappoint!! If you haven't tried it yet, you should definitely head out and grab yourself a box, you can't go wrong with it. However, I would love to see this available as singles so you can purchase your favourite colour when they run out.

Have you tried these lip crayons? What did you think of it?

Thanks for reading!!!
