December Bellabox

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! I know this post is a bit late but better late than never hey? December Bellabox is jam packed with goodies. When I opened the box, I was shocked at what was in my box.
John Frieda Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Creme ($16.99 for 113g - Received 30ml sample size) - This smells quite pleasant, it's my first John Frieda product. I've used it once but haven't noticed any improvement but I'll need to use it more before I can comment properly.

Allegra Rhodes Hand And Nail Cream ($32.95 for 175ml - Received 5ml sample size) - This hand cream smells amazing! The rich ingredients moisturises skin and strengthen nails. It absorbs quite quickly into the skin. Loving this so far.

Emergin C Multi-Fruit Cleanser ($55 for 240ml - Received 3ml sample size) & Protocell ($119 for 50ml - Received 3ml sample size) - I haven't tried these yet but according to Bellabox "containing super healthy and fresh plant and fruit derived miracle ingredients to nurture and protect your skin".

Compeed Blister Patches ($11.95 - Received one patch) - These patches are used to prevent blisters and help to heal existing blisters. They are said to repel, water, dirt and bateria. The other day I was walking around in the 38 degree heat and my feet had ugly blisters, I should have used it! Wish I read it earlier.

Savoir Faire Limited Edition Kit ($110 - Received full size) - This wowed me the most! When I opened my Bellabox, I thought my eyes were playing tricks with me lol I can't believe they actually included a full size kit in the December box! I think my kit is the summer edition which has a bronzer instead of a blush. Each kit contains: 6 eyeshadows, bronzer, eyeliner, mascara and a lip gloss.

Bellabox is a monthly subscription box, delivered to your doorstep for $15 a month. If you would like to sign up to Bellabox, please visit www.bellabox.com.au.

I'm currently working on a new blog. I've finally decided to move over to Wordpress and I'll be changing the name as well. I'll still be blogging here for the next few weeks. When I'm closer to finishing, I'll link you guys so you can update the your feeds.

Palmer's BB Cream

Recently Palmer's have expanded its Eventone range to include BB creams. According to Palmer's "This all-in-one beauty balm replaces the need for multiple products by targeting discolouration and preventing hyperpigmentation from recurring, protecting against and preventing sun damage, providing lightweight coverage to conceal imperfections, instantly improving radiance and reducing redness". The tone enhancing complex with natural pigment works to prime, perfect and protect you skin.
Available in 2 different shades: Fair/Light and Medium/Dark.
What I like:
  • Very smooth consistency (even though it is quite thick)
  • Afforable, pretty good compared to other brands
  • Covers redness and even skin tone
  • Dewy finish
  • Lovely fragrance
  • Paraben & Sulphate free

RRP: $9.99 (30ml)

Overall: This is a good BB cream, I would have preferred if it had a little more coverage. I have a lot of pigmentation just below the eyes and this doesn't cover much of it. I found that the medium BB cream is too dark whilst the fair is too light. I mixed a bit of medium with the fair and I got the perfect shade! So if you're an inbetweener like me, buy both and mix til you get the right colour for you. I haven't used this as a primer so I cannot comment on how well it works. This BB cream is good if you are looking for something similar to a tinted moisteriser.

Available exclusively at My Chemist and Chemist Warehouse, remaining stockists from January 2013.

What do you think of BB creams?

Grown facial masque and facial serum

Grown is an organic skincare range, proudly owned and made in Australia. Their philosophy "Beautiful healthy looking skin comes from a profound understanding of nature's power. With ingredients derived directly from nature... grown, not manufactured". Grown products are free of lauryl sulfates, glycols, petrochemicals, artificial fragrances, animal derivative, synthetic colours, silicones and parabens. Grown products are not tested on animals. I was mega lucky to have received the facial masque and facial serum to review.
Facial Masque - Deep Purifying: Wheatgerm, Ginkgo & Cranberry*

This is a clay masque help detoxify and improve firmness of the skin. I applied a generous amount onto my face (avoiding the eye area), waited a good 10-15mins then wash off. This masque does not give you that tight drying feeling but leaves your skin silky smooth and ready for moisterising. At first, I wasn't too fond of the scent but now it's growing on me. I used this masque 2 times a week usually after I exfoliate ensuring my skin remains hydrated. If you are looking for a clay mask, this one is a must.

RRP $39.95
Facial Serum - Radiance Restoring: Borago, Rosehip & Buckthorn Berry*

This is a certified organic facial serum using a blend of antioxidants and nutrients. This little bottle of goodness helps to reduce signs of aging and improves skin elasticity. It will leave your skin feeling smooth, hydrated and looking firm. I used this every night after cleansing and before moisterising. This product does not clog pores and did not break me out. I have not noticed my skin looking firmer but it does feel softer. It's an awesome product and I definitely recommend it!

RRP $59.95

Urban Decay Naked Palette and more..

Happy Tuesday!! If you follow me on twitter and instagram, you would know how excited I got when my BeautyBay ordered arrived last week! I was pretty much spamming all social media lol I couldn't blog about it right away because I had to wait until the weekend so I could get some decent lighting for photos. I didn't go crazy during the Black Friday sales, I bought what I desperately wanted for ages. As you can see, I got both the Urban Decay Naked palettes! I've always wanted these palettes since they came out!! I couldn't decide which one to get so to prevent myself from regretting later on, I got both lol. I always say to myself 'buy now, think later'.
Shimmery goodness!! Such beautiful palettes, they are so beautiful that I don't want to ruin them so after I took photos I put them back into the original packaging lol.
New primers I purchased are the Pore Perfecting and Eyeshadow. I've been using the sample size eyeshadow primer than came with the Naked Palette, all I can say is you must try it!! My eyeshadows now lasts 12hrs+. I've tried the pore perfecting primer once and I don't really see any difference, but I'll definitely need to use it a few more times before I can say more.
I've read some good reviews on the Touche Éclat so I was curious to see what it was like. I haven't used it yet but the packaging sure feels luxe. This was $22, how could I pass it up?
This curling wand was a real bargain, I got it for $26 and I saw it on Ry for $70ish. I've used it twice, first time was a total fail. I couldn't get my hair to curl. Second time was pretty good, I got the loose beach waves so I'm pretty happy with this purchase!

Did you score any awesome bargains from the Black Friday sales?

Trilogy Age Proof - active enzyme cleansing cream & night cream

Trilogy Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream*
As described by Trilogy "A non-drying velvety cleanser to gently smooth and refine for fresher, younger looking skin. Enjoy the light sophisticated fragrance as you gently remove all make-up, exfoliate and brighten your complexion. Your skin feels renewed, smoother, refined and perfectly prepared for maximum serum and moisturiser absorption."

This was my first time experiencing an enzyme cleanser so when I received this in the mail, I was pretty excited. Fruit enzymes are suppose to help soften and refine skin for a smoother look. I've used this cleanser for a few weeks, as a primary cleanser in the morning and secondary at night as I have makeup on. If you're wondering what the cleanser looks or feels like, it's a silky soft cream that isn't heavy at all.

I haven't noticed any dramatic differences in my skin after using this cleanser, however, the cleanser did not irritate my skin or caused any break outs so it's a keeper for me.

What I like
  • It glides over the face so smoothly
  • Cleans without making your face tight and dry

RRP $39.95 (150ml)
Availability: MYER, Priceline and selected pharmacies

Trilogy Age Proof Replenishing Night Cream*
As described by Trilogy "Replenish your skin while you rest and wake up to a noticeably rejuvenated complexion. This unique blend of nourishing bio-actives assists the skin's natural process of regeneration to help restore your skin's elasticity and suppleness while smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. Wake up to a noticeably rejuvenated complexion."

This is my second favourite product from the Trilogy range (first being their Rosehip Oil). This product is designed to help rejuvenate your complexion while you sleep. I have used the replenishing night cream in conjunction with their cleanser for a few weeks. You only need a pea size of moisteriser for the entire face. I love the scent of this moisteriser, it absorbs so well into the skin. I would definitely repurchase this night cream!

What I like
  • The following morning face is not oily but really soft
  • Goes on matte and non greasy

RRP $53.95 (60g)
Availability: MYER, Priceline and selected pharmacies

I don't have any wrinkles yet so I can't tell if the cleaser and moisteriser helps to reduce wrinkles. I'm using this for prevention purposes.

Have you tried Trilogy products?

Cold Rock ice cream goodness

By now you should know, I'm a lover of all things sweet. On the weekend, I went to Cold Rock Ice Creamery to check out some of their ice cream. If you don't know what Cold Rock is, they are famous for their customisable ice cream with an awesome selection of mix ins. As soon as we walked in, the Hubs was drawn to their ice cream cakes. He has already picked his birthday cake for next year lol.
At the front of the shop, they have a countdown till Christmas!! How quick has the year gone by? This year Cold Rock is running a promotion based on the Christmas Advent Calendar concept. Everyday, starting on 1st to the 24th of December, there will be a new offer each day. When I popped into the store on the weekend, the were offering free Nerd mix in with any large ice cream purchased.
This was only just half of the ice cream they have on offer, I couldn't fit the rest in one photo. We stood there for like 10 mins deciding what to get. I was taking a lot photos, the lady at the store must of thought I was an asian tourist lol. The most logical thing would have been for me to explain why I was taking photos but I get too embarrassed talking about my blog so I just try to take photos as quickly as possible without looking weird.
If you have never been to Cold Rock this is what happens (I'm talking like some kinda expert when I've only been once lol):
  • Pick the size of the ice cream
  • Pick the ice cream flavour
  • Pick any mix in you want
  • Lady/Guy at the counter will mix your mix in with the ice cream
I ended up getting the cookies & cream ice cream and added oreo cookies into it. Might I say, it was quite tasty.
To check out the Cold Rock daily offers, please click on the below button which will take you to their facebook page! I can't believe it has taken me this long to try out their ice cream. I'm definitely going to be back a few more times this summer!

Sparkly Glitter Polish

I was first introduced to these Ulta3 Glitter polishes at Ling's from Pork Chop's Nest Christmas BBQ last weekend. I've never been a fan of sparkly stuff but just recently I've been drawn to anything that reflects light. I tweeted Vita from Make Up 4 My Age to see where I can get these glittery goodness from.

When I got there, they were sold out on Over The Rainbow so I ended up getting 5 out of the 6 in the collection. So now I'm on the hunt for Over The Rainbow, if you see it please let me know or you can just buy it for me =)
From left to right: New Years Eve, Twinkle Toes, Disco Fever, Pot of Gold and Luck of the Irish.
I haven't tried these polishes yet. I'm planning on wearing them for Christmas. I need to pick up a green base polish and use Luck of the Irish as a top coat. For $2 a bottle, you can't go wrong with these polishes.

I picked up these polishes from Sportsgirl a few weeks a go. They were on sale for $3.45 each (RRP $7.95). I've tried Super Nova as a top coat and it's pretty good. It started to chip after 4 days.
Left to Right: Glacier, 100's & 1000's and Super Nova

I've been spending too much lately. I can't wait to share my BeautyBay purchases in a few weeks time. They had 20% off and free shipping for Black Friday - no way I could have resisted.

What have you purchased recently? Did you take advantage of the Black Friday sales?

YAY the weekend is almost here! As always thanks for reading!

Things I'm thankful for

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! I've been reading lots of blogs from the US the last few days. Been loving their thankful posts so much that I thought I should write my own! These days, it's so easy to lose track of what's really important, we often tend to be grateful when something is gone or lost. Once in while it's good to take a break and think about what really matters to you.

I'm thankful for:
  • My health
  • Awesome hubs
  • My loving family
  • Great friends
  • Having a job - Even though I'm constantly complaining, I'm glad I have a job. It gets me out of the house and doing something I never thought I could.
  • Food and water - The two necessities of life!
  • Exercise
  • A roof under our heads

Here are some of the sillier stuff:
  • The internet! - The hubs and I were just talking the other day, how we would survive if we had no internet? Our lives revolves around the internet, pretty crazy right?
  • Living so close to the train station - Living just 5 mins away from the train station, I no longer need to rush to work!
  • My lovely followers and anyone who takes their time to read my blog
  • Frozen yoghurt - I love this stuff!

Well that's my list! It's a short post, I know I should have expanded on my points but I finished work late (9.30pm to be exact) and I've got the biggest headache in the world. But I wanted to get this post out tonight. I'm sorry if you wanted to read more!

What are you thankful for?

Review: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation

Happy Saturday!! I purchased the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (#120 Soft Sand) at IMATS this year for $42 (if i remember correctly). I decided to buy this foundation because I've read and watched so many raves about this product. I think it set my expectation so high that when I finally tried it, I felt a tad disappointed.

According to MUFE "The HD Foundation is an oil-free medium-to-full coverage liquid foundation which covers skin imperfections, while remaining invisible on-screen and in real life. Its extremely fine texture is supple and easy to apply. Enriched with moisturizing agents, it leaves the skin soft and radiant. It is available in a wide range of shades to suit all skin tones".
Additional info:
  • Made in France
  • RRP $59AUD
  • Available in a variety of shades
  • Medium coverage

What I like:
  • It covers without clogging pores
  • Lasts up to 7hrs on me
  • Feels quite comfortable and light on the skin
  • Photographs well
  • Great packaging with the pump - releases just enough product

What I dislike:
I found this foundation hard to blend into the skin and really accentuates drier areas of your face. I tried to apply this foundation with a brush as well as my fingers but I found that none of it really worked for me. It looked really dull on my skin and didn't at all improve the appearance of my skin texture. Initially the first 2-3 weeks of using it, I felt like the foundation kept sticking around the dry patches. One day (being last week lol), I decided to exfoliate my face with my usual mask the Clinique turnaround facial just before applying the foundation, just to see if it made a difference. Let me tell you this, it made a HUGE difference by exfoliating and slapping on a bunch of my Shiseido day time moisteriser!! The foundation went on so much smoother and it didn't emphasize any dry patches. So if you have dry skin either exfoliate or use a lot of moisturiser or do both.

Overall: To be honest, I think it's a pain having to exfoliate every time right before I use the foundation to get the best results of out this foundation. I probably will not be buying this again unless my skin condition miraculously improves. I haven't tried this product with a beauty blender but I have read that it works pretty well with it. This product will suit someone with combination to oily skin. I guess it's one of those things, you either love it or hate it.

Have you tried MUFE HD Foundation? Love it? Hate it?

Review: Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil + Giveaway winner

Happy Tuesday!! I'm turning into a real slacker when it comes to blogging. I been sitting at home every night thinking I should be blogging but then I'll end up doing something else. This has been happening all week! Anywayyyy.. a few months a go, I went to check out Chemist Warehouse, wanted to see if they got any good bargains. Just so happens that Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil was on sale so I picked up a bottle. I can't remember how much I got it for but it was definitely a few bucks cheaper than the rrp.
Application: You can either use it before washing your hair to help nourish or before styling for protection. I usually use 2 pumps on my hands, rub them together and put it all over my hair.

Additional info:
  • Made in Israel
  • RRP $19.95 (100ml)
  • Availability: Large supermarkets and other retailers

What it feels like: A light clear oil

What I like:
  • Product doesn't weigh down my hair
  • Doesn't leave hair greasy like other oils
  • Adds definition to wavy hair
  • You can use the product any way you like
  • Leaves hair glossy
  • The scent of the oil is a little plan but it didn't bother me
  • Great packaging with the pump

Overall: This is my first hair oil I've used so I wouldn't have much to compare it to. I would like to try moroccan oil one day but every time I see the price tag, it puts me off. As you can see, I don't really spend much money hair products. I been using this oil after I blow dry my hair and I love the gloss it gives. You might think that because it's an oil it will cause your hair to get oily quicker but it's so not true with this product. I'm still washing my hair like every 3-4 days (gross? yes I'm lazy lol). Great product, try try try!!

Thank you to everyone who entered my Blogiversary Giveaway. The winner is yozellyn. I will be sending you an email shortly. Please respond within 2 days or a new winner will be chosen.

Review: Clean & Clear In-Shower Facial

Happy Sunday!!! I haven't been able to blog lately because my internet has been capped for the last week. You really can't do much when the internet is capped, it's like the good old dial up days. It took me forever just to load the photos for this post. The last few weeks, I have been trialing Clean & Clear Deep Action In-Shower Facial*. As you probably would have guessed it, this nifty facial is done in the shower!

What it claims "in three ways for skin that feels refreshed, revived and completely clean. Detoxifies deep with a purifying formula made with natural fruit acids that work with the shower's steam to deeply cleanse the pores. Exfoliating beads sweep away dead surface skin, while natural skin conditioners leave skin soft and smooth."
Application: In the shower, squeeze a small amount onto the palm of your hand. Apply it to your face avoiding the eye area. Wait one minute then gently scrub and rinse off with warm water.

Additional info:
  • Made in Thailand
  • RRP around $10 (150g)
  • Availability: Large supermarkets and other retailers
  • This product contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) which may increase skin sensitivity so best to use sun screen before stepping out of the house
  • Product works best in the shower from the heat and steam
  • Use 2-3 times a week

What it feels like: A thick white/greenish gritty scrub

What I like:
  • Refreshing scent
  • Good packaging and very easy to use in shower with a flip top lid
  • Tingling cooling sensation as it's working
  • Skin feels rejuvenated and smooth after you rinse off
  • Does not irritate my skin or cause breakouts
  • Skin felt smooth and clear and not dried out
  • Great for all ages (not just for teenagers)

Overall: This facial mask is good for dry to oily skin. However, if you have super sensitive or sun burnt skin, I wouldn't recommend this as it may be too rough on your skin. I have incorporated this product into my shower routine. I use it especially after the gym when my face is clogged up. This product is great if you are time poor and want results. Definitely give this facial a go if you are looking for cleaner and more refreshed skin.

Thanks for reading!!!

Review: Lush The Sacred Truth Fresh Face Mask

Whoa man it's Wednesday!! That means exam tomorrow!!!!! I haven't had time to prepare a post this week so this is a something I prepared a month a go (reminds me of those cooking shows and here's what we prepared earlier lol).
................................................................................................
The other day I was in the city, I walked past the Swanston St Lush store. I thought to myself that I haven't bought any Lush face mask in a while so I picked up The Sacred Truth Fresh Face Mask. The lady at Lush said this was the best seller of the day so I gave it a go.

According to Lush "The truth is, we all need protection from ageing. The vital antioxidant action of wheatgrass, ginseng and green tea combines with fresh papaya, cleansing clays and nutritious butters to defend the skin. This mask delivers live, fresh, active ingredients, which enhance and refresh the complexion. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave for five to ten minutes, and then rinse away with warm water. Keep chilled."
Application: Apply a thick layer on a clean face avoiding the eye area. Leave for 10 mins then rinse off with water.

Additional info:
  • Made in Australia
  • RRP $15.95 75g
  • Not tested on animals

What it feels like: A smooth thick texture. From the photos it reminds me of black sesame ice cream.

What I like:
  • Does not irritate my skin
  • Leaves skin feeling soft

What I dislike:
  • My face felt oily the following morning
  • Not a fan of the scent of this face mask, smell lingers for a while
  • A little harder to wash off, I had to use a wash cloth to get most of it off

Overall: This face mask isn't for me but everyone's preference and skin type is different. Personally I wouldn't buy again. My all time favourite Lush face masks is still Love lettuce and BB seaweed, they are so awesome my face felt so smooth and clean.

Thanks for reading!!!

This is my first time guest blogging and reviewing make up (as my blog is just an outlet for my food adventures) but I was excited when asked by Kerri of The Ugly Moments (also known as my dear cousin) if I wanted to guest blog, of course I was more than willing!

I've been a long-time user of Garnier's BB Cream but have always found the old formula very dewy once applied and I would never leave the house without applying some powder foundation over it. Once it ran out, I was ready to switch BB creams until Kerri asked if I wanted Garnier's New BB Cream and of course I couldn't say no. And I'm glad I didn't!
The new formula is a great improvement from the old. It is now oil-free; leaving you with a matte finish. It's great if you're in the rush and don't have time to do your make up each morning which I'm guilty of most days. And on days I do have time, I find it is a good alternative to using a primer. It also doesn't have an obnoxious and over-bearing fragrance to it anymore. It is lighter than the old formula yet it doesn't compromise on coverage, as I've found this new formula to give much better coverage and much easier to blend in.
I've been using this product for over a week now and I've found that my pores have minimised and my skin is more hydrated. I highly recommend this product to everyone and anyone!

Review: Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free Makeup

The last few months, I have been on a search for a new base product. When I was offered to try the Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free Makeup*, I was so excited. I thought great something for my greasy forehead!!

What it claims "This lightweight gel-cream texture provides all day coverage with a mattifying finish and feels as comfortable as wearing nothing at all. Controls oil breakthrough and keeps skin shine-free, even in extreme heat and humidity all day. Contains shine absorbers to refine the look of troubled areas. Skin looks and feels flawless all day long."

Additional info:
  • RRP $50 (30ml)
  • 20 Shades ranging from very fair to deep
  • Available: Clinique counters or Online
  • Made in Belgium
  • Medium coverage

What I like:
  • It covers without clogging pores
  • Texture is creamy but light
  • Blends easily
  • Feels quite comfortable on the skin
  • Simple and clean packaging in a squeezable bottle
  • Great for summer

Overall: As this is a matte foundation, I wouldn't recommend this for people with dry skin. If you have normal to oily skin, this foundation is great. It doesn't eliminate all shine but it does reduce quite a bit. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for a matte foundation!!

Have you matte foundation before? Love/Hate it?

Rose-Hip Vital Rosehip Oil

I first discovered Rosehip Oil 2 years ago on the Vogue forums. All the girls on there were raving on about how awesomely good this product was. The curious me, had to try it out. After finishing the bottle, I forgotten about it until the lovely PR for Rose-Hip Vital asked if I wanted to try out their recently launched Rosehip Oil Organic Cold Press*. You might be thinking what's cold press? It means that it's extracted without using heat or chemicals so the product is more beneficial for you.

Why use Rosehip Oil?
  • Reduce appearance of stretchmarks and scars
  • Maintain skin hydration
  • Improve the appearance of dry skin
  • Diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Promote skin elasticity and texture
  • Repair sun damage and skin tissue
  • Reduce pigmentation

Additional info:
  • RRP $19.95 (30ml)
  • Available: Leading pharmacies and health food stores

Application: I like to have my face and hands damp when using the oil. Add 3 drops of the Rosehip Oil onto hand and rub it around the face. I use this once every 2-3 nights. I find that if i start using it every night, it starts to clog my pores. This replaces my night moisteriser on the nights I'm using the oil.

What I like:
  • The smell is not as strong as other Rosehip Oil
  • Face look clearer with reduce red blotches on my face
  • Great for all skin types
  • Excellent price

Overall: Great product and price. Only downside is if you use it every night, your pillow might get a little stinky lol If you're looking for something that will improve your skin condition, this is a must!

Have you tried Rosehip Oil? Love/Hate it? Tell me!!
