Bridal Makeup for Lips - Bobbi Brown Tulle #34

For my wedding, I ended up picking Bobbi Brown Tulle #34 for my lipstick. Finding the right shade was really hard for me especially since I hardly ever wore lipstick and on top of that making sure it coordinated with the rest of my makeup, dress and my theme!?! Thinking about it now gives me a headache.

I went to every single cosmetic counter in David Jones but no one was able to help, they all provided the same response "it depends on what you like" how do I know what I like if I'm not use to wearing lipsticks???!!! Some suggested to try the long lasting lip products as they were popular for weddings, which I did but they dried out my lips and I didn't want sultana looking lips on my wedding day. I opted for something that provided moisture but on the downside I would have to re-apply every couple of hours so I picked Bobbi Brown Tulle #34.

I forgot to take a pic of it when I first bought it and now the photo is a little gross after I used it a few times lol

It looks a little darker in the photo than what it actually looks like.
Here is what it actually looks like on the day. I had lip liner on but I don't know what colour it is. I didn't ask my MUA, she just match the shade of my lippy. Bridal comb is from this post. I haven't blogged about my earrings, not sure if you guys want to see it in detail?

I'm actually quite happy with this lipstick, it's the perfect pink and looks natural too. My mum the typical asian wanted bright red lips but I refused, you cannot use bright red lipstick on my fat lips it just looks weird. I've actually worn it a few times after the wedding, I think I'm slowly converting lol. The finish is awesome, not matte but not shimmery either. Colour is thick and creamy. Price was $44/45 (can't remember) but next time I'll buy it online bit too pricey for me.

Thanks for reading and don't forget to enter my giveaway here =)

Most memorable wedding photo

Happy Sunday!!! Just a quick update - Yesterday was the day!! I had so many cameras pointing at me, it was unbelievable. Everything worked out exactly as planned.

I wanted to show you guys my most memorable photo, taken at Beaumaris yesterday. We were walking along the beach with the photographer, it was sooo windy and cold!!!! I was getting really annoyed because I had heels on walking in the sand, my dress was getting really dirty and my hair was falling apart from the wind. We walked 10-15mins and came to a stop and I looked in front of me, there was a bunch of rocks. I thought 'OMG do you really expect me to climb that????'.  I wanted to give up and turn back, you could see the expression on my face lol but I had already walked so far and it's silly to just go back, so I did it and here it is!!! In the end, it was worth getting my dress & shoes dirty!

There will be a final wedding post within the next few weeks after I finish collating photos from everyone.

Thanks for reading!!

Wedding Qipao evening gown - part 2

A couple of months ago, I posted about my Qipao evening dress here. I finally picked it up on Anzac day after 2 dress fitting. The second fitting took 2 hours, we were trying it on then making small alternations then repeat it 4-5times and we have a perfectly fitting dress.

Pic taken during the first fitting, button on left is missing.

This is taken during the second fitting, second button is sewed on. Pins under the chest area to tighten the fabric around my waist for further alternations. This shot makes my chest look big for once in my life lol
Best full body shot I could get (this is not the completed dress, by the time it was ready I was too drained to be taking photos). The side split comes up just right. When im wearing this dress, it reminds me of chun li from street fighter! Just missing the two buns on my head lol

I found the fabric to crease really easily and even after constant ironing it doesn't look any better but I guess no one is going to notice on the night anyway.

So here you go my evening dress! Thoughts?

Wedding hair accessory

Wedding Wednesday!!!! I am sooo a last minute person, only a week to go! My wedding hair accessory/bridal comb arrived yesterday from Fletcher and Grace.

This bridal comb is called Bella, got it for $85 plus express shipping $14.95. Pretty good considering bridal shops normally have them for $250+.

From the website "The Bella Comb is a beautifully classic comb made with natural lustre man-made ivory pearl and sparkly genuine Swarovski crystals. This flexible comb can be worn on the side or at the back and looks gorgeous worn with classic as well as contemporary style dresses."

Size:Width 8.5 cm and Height 3.0 cm (exclude comb )

I was deciding between the bridal comb or placing flowers in my hair. I chose the comb because I needed more 'bling', my dress is plain and I'm only wearing earrings (no necklace). My next post will be on my evening dress (the Qipao). I've just picked it up tonight, stay tuned!

What would you prefer comb or flowers?

DIY: Wedding Bouquet

Wedding Wednesday!!! As one of my cost saving initiatives for my wedding,  I have decided to make my own bouquet. The good thing is I'm using silk flowers so I can keep it for display after the wedding. I was planning on making a small bouquet to throw away at the wedding but I stopped by Spotlight and bought a mini pre-made bouquet they had on sale.

I bought about 28 ivory roses from a flower wholesaler and another 5 baby pink roses from Spotlight to start off my bouquet. Also bought florist tape, ribbons and 2 strands of pearls from Spotlight.

This is what my bouquet currently looks like, I have just tied it together with some wires. It looks a little small, I was thinking maybe another 10 baby pink roses to add to it. I haven't figured out how to attach the pearls on yet, right now it's just wrapping around the flowers (was thinking of maybe using a hot glue gun).

From the side view, I think there is a possibility of even using 15 roses. The stem will be covered by ribbons and I will tie a big bow on it.

What do you ladies think?

As always thanks for reading my blog! =)

Evening gown!?!

Happy Tuesday!!! If anyone has ever been to a chinese/asian wedding, you'll know that the bride usually changes 50million times with different outfits. I'm chinese so my family expects it.. Initially, I was going to wear my wedding dress.. since it's quite expensive and it's only worn once why not just wear it for the whole day!?! This idea did not sit well with my mum! So we negotiated down to changing once!

Has anyone seen a chinese dress/Cheongsam/Qipao before? Here's a pic!
It took us a good month to find a dress maker who could make this in Melbourne. During our first consultation with the dress maker, I told her what style I wanted. She recommended a bunch of places for the fabric. We went most of the places she recommended but couldn't find the traditional chinese silk fabric and if the fabric store did stock it in, it wasn't the colour I wanted. My mum then went to Springvale and to our surprise there was more variety there! I went the following week and found a colour I liked and here it is!!
The fabric is pinkish/purple with some cherry blossom looking patterns on it, fits right into my theme. My dress will hopefully look like the dress above.

Only thing left to organise is the flowers!

Cherry Blossom Wedding cake!?!!?

Who would have though searching for a cake can be this much trouble. My sister has a friend who is a pastry chef, who I emailed asking for a quote to make cherry blossom cupcakes. She quoted me $7 per cup cake plus like another 200-300 for the fruit cake, that cake would cost me $1k eeeek.... There's a perception that cup cake towers are cheaper than an actual wedding cakes but its not!! omg the opposite. I wanted a yummy cake but I don't know if ppl can tell the difference between a $1k cake vs $600-800. Anyway so I kept looking around (by this time didn't really care if it was cup cakes or not). We found a place this afternoon that can do a very simple cherry blossom cake which isnt as crazy as some of the cherry blossom cakes on google like these guys. A bit too over the top with the flowers lol

Our wedding cake has two of our favourite things on it - cherry blossoms & pink bows.. you may think it sounds lame but it's pretty looking. It's a 3 tiered cake and I got different flavours for every tier. Good thing is we have flowers on the top tier so we don't need any cake toppers since the last one I bought was lost in the mail.

Veils?!?!?

Oh man the dilemma, should I risk it and buy my veil online or buy it from the shops? If I get it online, what if its crappy material? I'll end up wasting the $150 and end up buying from a retail bridal shop? On the other hand, what if the quality is good and i'll never know lol

This is the kinda veil i'm after, the long thin type? dunno how else to describe them, I wanna take a photo similar to this where my veil flys. It looks romantic as.

Wedding invitations & Bonbonniere Boxes are decided!!

Hello =) I have made some progress! My wedding invitations and bonbonniere boxes have been ordered. The printing company has started printing. It took a while to decide on what I want, knowing me it normally takes me ages coz im so indecisive. In Australia, it's very expensive to get invitation made. I went to a few wedding expos and the invitations there was like $8-10 per card... wayy too expensive for my budget. The fact that I know ppl will end up throwing my invite in the bin made me feel even more stingy. My invitations are from HK, the girl was really nice and communication has been really good. My invites are simple but my bonbonniere boxes are mega asian lol My mum loves the chinese character on wedding stuff, some kinda good luck thing? What's good about this place is the bonbonniere boxes are custom made so it will have our names and wedding date on it.

This is my invite, the envelope is also a greeny pearl colour.

Bonbonniere Box - on the other side it has our names printed on it. Thinking of doing a candy buffet, so ppl can just take their boxes up to the table and fill it up with whatever lollies they want.
