DIY: Wedding Bouquet

Wedding Wednesday!!! As one of my cost saving initiatives for my wedding,  I have decided to make my own bouquet. The good thing is I'm using silk flowers so I can keep it for display after the wedding. I was planning on making a small bouquet to throw away at the wedding but I stopped by Spotlight and bought a mini pre-made bouquet they had on sale.

I bought about 28 ivory roses from a flower wholesaler and another 5 baby pink roses from Spotlight to start off my bouquet. Also bought florist tape, ribbons and 2 strands of pearls from Spotlight.

This is what my bouquet currently looks like, I have just tied it together with some wires. It looks a little small, I was thinking maybe another 10 baby pink roses to add to it. I haven't figured out how to attach the pearls on yet, right now it's just wrapping around the flowers (was thinking of maybe using a hot glue gun).

From the side view, I think there is a possibility of even using 15 roses. The stem will be covered by ribbons and I will tie a big bow on it.

What do you ladies think?

As always thanks for reading my blog! =)

  1. The first photo from the front makes it look much bigger, it think it looks fantastic and you've done an awesome job!
Will you need BMs bouquets too?

  3. Wow, look at that! How clever are you?!

From the front picture it looks gorgeous and big enough, but from side view you're right - looks like you can afford to add a few more flowers! Either way, it looks absolutely fantastic!

Can I commission you to create a bouquet for me when I eventually get around to getting married?! Haha!

    xx

  4. I love the front view, really beautiful bouquet. I agree that you need more flowers to bulk out the sides as the stems are quite obvious and a little detracting to the bouquet. See if you can place the flower buds when you add more a little further down the bouquet and that might help to cover what you've got now. Then wrap the ribbon higher up and then you'll have perfection. Love the pearls and colours of the roses.. just fantastic!!!
And had another quick look, maybe use bigger open roses around the sides and that will hide the stems easier.. just a thought... but be careful not to make it too heavy as your arms will get tired holding it..

    1. Thanks for the tip! yep agree on getting the ribbon and having larger flowers to cover the stem. I tried to make it rounder. I re-did it but havent got pics of it to post.

  9. Great job! I would definitely add more roses to fill out the bouquet. I also think wrapping the pearls around the bottom would be nice too (attaching w/a hot glue gun will work). Just remember that you have to hold your bouquet for a few hours - so maybe just doing pearls at the top of the satin and the bottom of the satin (like a trim) would be a nice way to incorporate it without it getting in the way.

  12. Looks great :-) agree with the comments to add more from the sides. From the top they look real (if you hadn't told me I wouldn't have known) but from the side it is obvious they are silk flowers, so if You can add more to hide the plastic stems I think that'd be good.

Though you will hide a lot of that with your hands anyway :-)

    1. yeh i know plus no ones really going to examine my bouquet lol but i will wrap the ribbon up higher so it covers more.

  13. You are very creative! I would do the same, my wedding bouquet was real flowers and they dried up and collected dust. So I had to throw them away eventually. This is something you can keep forever!

  14. They look gorgeous ker! Hold it against yourself and make sure you are happy with the ratio of the flowers against yourself. My Gf had a beautiful bouquet, but it was too big for her asian stature.

Satin ribbons and bows and bouquet charms can hide the plastic stems no worries!

  23. YOUR wedding? Have I misunderstood ? Wow awesome :D
Your bouquet is really lovely and sooooooo pretty ! I love the association of the pink and white roses + the pearls it's really lovely.
I think you shouldn't add too much roses, I agree that you can add some but not too much I think. A big white rubbon on the stem and it would look GORGEOUS.
