I have very fine, straight, boring hair. When I go out I see girls with voluminous hair that always look natural and bouncy! I am soo jealous!!! I started to experiment with my GHD straightener 2yrs ago to try to get that voluminous look. In this post, I wanted to show you guys how I curl my hair. This is the first time I've posted about my hair.
Before attempting to curl your hair, always use a good heat serum or protective spray. Today I used Heat Tamer Protective Spray from TRESemmé.
I always start off curling the lower section of my hair first. Tie up the upper section so it doesn't get in the way.
Then split the bottom section of hair in half.
Take a small section of hair, take the GHD clamp it against the hair (5cm from your roots), twist the GHD about half turn (towards or away from you) as you continue pulling through your hair. The thicker the section is, the looser the curl will be. The slower you go the smaller the curls will be.
Don't worry about stuffing it up, wait for your hair to cool down a bit and try again.
Take the next section and repeat rotating the GHD.
After all the bottom section is done, it should look something like this.
Now start working on the top section. Take out your hair and tie up about half of the top section.
Start curling the side that hasn't been tied up using the same motion as before.
Finished!! This is what it should look like! To maintain curls make sure you use some mousse or hairspray.
Front view
I've had my GHD for around 3 years now and this baby is still working like I just got it. Recently, I was on www.ghdhair.com/au/ and found out they had limited edition - Peacock collection that came out! Looks pretty awesome! I'm sure most of you ladies would know already, I'm a bit behind sometimes lol If I had extra cash flow, I wouldn't mind getting the purple peacock! Someone should buy it for me!!!
How do you style your hair for a night out?
wow.. i love your hair! x
ReplyDeletethank you lovey!
DeleteYour hair is so long and beautiful - it looks gorgeous curled! xx
ReplyDeletethanks!! i think coz of the flash on the camera, my hair in real life is actually quite dull lol
DeleteThe curls look great on your long hair!
ReplyDeletethanks Shen!!
Deletewow you have such pretty hair
ReplyDeleteThanks MrsB
DeleteSo gorgeous! I can never create really nice curls with my ghd (also going on 3 years!) so I actually bought a curler tong instead. I have practised sooo much with my ghd but can't get the technique down pat :(
ReplyDeletei kept trying, my hair was like dying at one point lol are the curler tongs easy to use?
DeleteYour hair is gorgeous! Mine is fine, boring and straight :) I cant quite get the flat iron curling down but curling rods usually curl my hair well.
ReplyDeletemine is quite boring too, lately been trying to not curl it as much because needa try to keep my hair healthy
DeleteYour hair looks so healthy! >< You make me want to dye my hair darker.
ReplyDeletelol lately i been getting urges to go dye my hair!! im resisting badly
Deletewow...love your hair..look so healthy and smooth...
ReplyDeleteI wish my hair can grow long like your...:P
its just the photo normally its really dry and gross
DeleteWow, you have such long and lovely hair!
ReplyDeleteI haven't used a straightener to curl my hair before but I definitely want to try...but I get so bored when I use a curler that I never really do the whole section of my head properly, lol.
I do boring things with my hair for special functions...I use all my energy on make-up instead 0_o
yeh i know what you mean, if im tired i cbb coz my arms get sore from holding the GHD up to curl
DeleteAh, today I've also tried curling my hair by the straightener, and it hasn't worked this perfect :(
ReplyDeleteYou look so pretty with hair like this :)

ReplyDeletemy blog: boho vanity
I havent had a hair cut in like 7 mths lol been tying to grow it!
DeleteYour hair is so glossy and beautiful! SO LONG!
ReplyDeleteI have always blamed my lack of GHD curling skills on how long my hair is, but now you've debunked that one!
I'm going to need a better excuse now!
its the camera flash!! its not glossy lol sometimes my hair is so gross i have to tie it up everyday.
DeleteNow I'm craving a GHD - however I still would probably fail because I can't curl with a straightener (it just ends up wonky and weird). Your hair is so glossy and long *in awe*...
ReplyDeleteFor a night out I usually curl with a curling wand and then brush out, since I like the messy bed hair look. It lasts about half the night until it dies lol.
you should definitely get one! it has been so good to me. haha me too my curls didnt last the whole night.
DeleteYour hair looks pretty! I have very fine flat boring hair aswell! I usually curl my hair with a curling wand and use humongous amounts of hairspray to make it stay! <3
ReplyDeletelol i know what you mean about the hairspray, sometimes i use so much the entire night i can smell the hairspray
Deletei suck at curling my hair x_x but you look lovely <3
ReplyDeleteDon't give up, takes practice!!
DeleteLove how long your hair is! I only just recently learned how to curl my hair with my GHD as well hehe x
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! i love it how with a GHD you can curl it in whatever way you want and it looks natural too.
DeleteYou have so beautiful hair! <3
ReplyDeleteGreat blog; following you now.
