Review: Glam By Manicare Femme Fatale Kourtney lash

This post was written a few weeks back and I forgot to schedule it! I am not one that wears false lashes much. Reason being that my eyes are too dry for contact lenses and I'm stuck with wearing my glasses. I was given the opportunity to review the new Glam By Manicare Femme Fatale Kourtney lash* which was pretty exciting!!

Only managed to take a pic with it on lol the rest were too dark or my eyes look weird. I think I have uneven eyes, they look really weird in photos.

Additional info:
  • Product made in Indonesia, packaged in China
  • RRP $11.95

What I like:
  • Comes with a small bottle of adhesive. When I do use fake eyelashes, I like to carry some adhesive in my bag for those emergency situations.
  • Durable and one pair should last a good 4-5 usage
  • Length of the lashes is good!! Looks a little weird at the start since I'm use to short little asian lashes.

What I dislike:
  • Well not really a dislike but the lash strip was pretty long, I had to trim off part of it because I have small asian eyes lol
  • The glitter band was a little thick for me

Overall: These lashes are great, if only I could wear them more often! Why do I have to be so blind?? A random thought, back when I was younger, I remembered I loved wearing glasses thought it was cool.

Thanks for reading!!!

Garnier Dark Spot Event!

Wednesday night I was invited to attend a Garnier Blogger Event, I had no idea what it was about when I first received the email. I enjoy meeting fellow bloggers but I also get a little nervous since I'm not very good at initiating conversations with people I'm not familiar with and the 'omg I don't know anyone'. But turns out I was worried for no reason, everyone there was so friendly like unbelievably friendly lol
As soon as I walked in, I saw this little guy. His name is Bolt, a baby Dalmatian. Sounds kinda lame but I've never seen a real life Dalmatian before lol I was so excited, jumped in at the first chance to get a photo with him. This little guy has so much energy, kept jumping around and biting everything. He was even poking his nose up my dress lol!!
The event was to talk about the new dark spot corrector and BB cream. We each got a box to take home to try. I will be trying it soonish and write up a reviews on it. I tested out the new bb cream for combination skin and so far it appears to be pretty good, goes on matte compared to the original one where it was dewy looking.
I met The Maid Up Maiden. We follow each others blogs and twitter but never met in person, she is such a lovely girl! If you haven't checked out her blog, you should definitely do so!

We got a puppy soft toy to take home, they have personalised name tags on them! He's going to be my bloggy mascot from now on. A big thank you to the peeps at Garnier and Louisa from Brand Meets Blog for organising.

Now to help this socially awkward blogger =)
Give me some tips on how you strike up conversations with people you have never met before?
I'm finding it harder and harder these days, I'm always stuck in my little bubble.

Review: Real Techniques Makeup Brushes - Core Collection & Blush Brush

Say Hello to my new real techniques makeup brushes! Finally getting around to writing about them, probably one of the very last bloggers to be reviewing these! I bought my brushes off iHerb after resisting it for a while because the site looked kinda dodgy but then I realised a bunch of other bloggers bought it off this site so it was pretty reliable!
I purchased the core collection $17.99 and blush brush $8.99, used the $5 coupon so shipping was practically free! Saw these babies at Priceline yesterday for $44.99 & $22.99, still don't comprehend the huge price differences in Australia.
Blush Brush is mega soft. This brush is probably the cutest brush I own, comes in metallic pink handle and has a rubber end which helps it stand on its own. The bristles are longer on the inside and shorter for the outter bristles. The brush glides across cheeks quite easily and distributes the blush evenly. Definitely an awesome brush!

The Core Collection comes with 4 brushes - Detailer Brush, Pointed Foundation Brush, Buffing Brush & Contour Brush. It also comes with this nifty case to carry the brushes in (forgot to take a photo of it).
Buffing Brush is quite round and the bristles have quite a bit of room to breathe. When compared my Sigma F80, this is not as dense. This brush leaves your skin looking flawless without the streakiness. The thickness of the handle gives you the perfect grip.
Contour Brush is dome shaped and quite small in size. This brush is would be good for smaller surfaces such as browbone and nose. I haven't used this brush yet so not much to say about it.
Pointed Foundation Brush is about half the size of a normal foundation brush. I don't think this brush is suitable for applying foundation, it will take too much time and I 'm simply not a patient person. More suitable as a concealer brush in my opinion.
Detailed Brush is also very tiny. The feel of the brush is a little harder than the others, great for when you need precision in hard to get areas. The brush is good for putting on concealer around the eye area or getting around sides of the nose. I would prefer a larger brush as it takes less time.

Overall I'm quite happy with these brushes and for the price that they are selling for, it is value for money! A big thumbs up from me!

Have you tried Real Technique brushes? If so, which ones?

P.S This week I'm featured on the Decorating Forum!

Santorini Sweet Orange & Almond Sea Salt Scrub and Hydrating Body Lotion

Santorini Sun is an organic tanning & skin care line founded by Paula Theodore inspired by the breathtaking landscape of Santorini. Santorini Sun organics officially launched in March 2011 to fill a void in the market with products that delivery salon results with natural ingredients.

Benefits of Santorini products:
Made with 100% natural & certified organic ingredients
No synthetic fragrances, articificial colours, parabens or petro-chemicals.
Natural anti-ageing ingredients

I was lucky enough to be sent 2 products from the Santorini range to try out -Sweet Orange & Almond Sea Salt Scrub and Hydrating Body Lotion.

Santorini Sweet Orange & Almond Sea Salt Scrub* leaves your skin soft and smooth. This scrub is perfect for a pre-tan prep. Good exfoliation is important for tanning - it helps the skin absorbs better and also last longer. The salts are scented with almond and orange oils so you won't be smell like seaweed lol Overall a very lovely exfoliator.
RRP: $18.95 for 250ml

Santorini hydrating body lotion* leaves your skin feeling soft and supple. The body lotion smells really nice!! The formula is light and velvety that works to deeply nourish skin without leaving that greasy feeling. When applying, you may want to be careful when squirting it out, the bottle is a little hard. So when I did manage to squirt stuff out, too much bursted out and I applied wayyy more than I needed to.
RRP: $21.60 for 250ml

Have you tried any of the Santorini products before?

P.S Anyone going to IMATS Sydney this year? I haven't found an IMATS buddy yet so if you're going, let me know and I'll tag along with you.

Review: Toni & Guy Cleanse Dry Shampoo

As you all know how much I dislike washing my hair and my love for dry shampoo from my previous post here, I recently tried Toni & Guy Cleanse Dry Shampoo*. This stuff is amazing!!! The rate I'm going, I'll never have to wash my hair (kidding!!) lol

According to Toni & Guy "Absorbs oil and grease and adds volume for second day freshness. Used by session stylists, this backstage secret weapon adds body, volume and texture. It absorbs grease and natural oils for second day freshness. Plus, the advanced formula leaves no white residue".

Application: Make sure you shake the can before use. Spray the dry shampoo at the roots of the hair so that it can absorb the grease and oil. I don't think this needs to be brushed out but I combed my hair anyway.

Additional info:
  • Made in USA
  • RRP $15.99 AUD for 250ml
  • Availability: Woolworths, Coles, Priceline and Big W.

What I like:

  • I loveeee the scent of this!! The fragrance incorporates sparkling touches of ginger, very British earl grey tea and effervescent pink pepper.
  • Does not leave the white residue you get in other dry shampoo, it's a very fine mist.
  • Formula does not dry the hair
  • Creates volume
  • Convenient to use
  • Love the sleek packaging

What I dislike:

  • It does reduce oil and grease but not as much as other brands

Overall: The scent of this dry shampoo is amazing, it smells like you've just step out of the hairdresser lol I couldn't believe how it leaves no residual, I kept spraying and spraying and nothing!! I love how not only does it reduce grease, it also helps you with texture and volume. This is a nifty dry shampoo.

Have you tried Toni & Guy dry shampoo?

My Week

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, mine was pretty good. I finally went to check out the new Melbourne CBD Daiso that recently opened. This Daiso is huge, a lot bigger than the Richmond store. I think I spent close to 45mins in there, I did like 3 laps of the place lol. I ended up getting exfoliating gloves, face washing brush, fluffy headband and a plastic folder for study. I'm not sure how effective this face washing brush is, looks kinda weird looking but I'll do a review on it after I've used for a few weeks.

I also finally washed my real technique brushes after receiving them 2 weeks ago. As you can see I'm waiting for them to dry on the clothes horse lol The blush brush is so soft and fluffy, can't wait to use them.
I managed to buy another 4 Essie nail polishes.
Light to Right - 681 Status Symbol, 710 Van D'Go, 706 Neo Whimsical, 758 Absolutely Shore
Picked up Lush brazened honey fresh face mask, review to follow! I haven't tried brazened honey before.
My bb cream got delivered on Monday. If you follow me on twitter, you probably would have known how silly I was. I purchased this thinking it was a full size product (50ml) when I opened it up, it was only a sample size (20ml) lol got ripped off pretty badly.
Highlight of the week was when my couz came over Saturday night and brought over macarons!!! Sooooo delish!!

How was your weekend?

Review: Face of Australia Mineral Therapy Bronzing Pearls

Happy Wednesday! How are we all?? Today I will be reviewing Face of Australia Mineral Therapy Bronzing Pearls*. This is my first time using a bronzer, I guess I never tried it was because I didn't know what it was for and how to use it. What I learnt on the internet is it can be used for contouring or give you that "tan" look.

According to FOA "The luxurious light weight and concentrated pearls combine silky powder technology with a special blend of mixed pearl shades to match any skin tone or type. Perfect for highlighting, bronzing and creating a soft, iridescent effect. Run brush over the pearls and sweep evenly across the skin to build colour where desired. Can be used on face or body".

I used a lot more of the bronzer for the swatch, it's not this dark on the face lol

Application: Gently brush the pearls with your brush. Apply lightly the bronzer to the apples of your cheeks. I also like to apply it around the side my face (e.g jaw line, hairline, forehead). If you're contouring, probably better to use a matte bronzer.

Additional info:
  • Made in Taiwan
  • RRP $14.95 AUD
  • Availability: Big W, Priceline, pharmacies, any large retailer.
  • Not tested on animals

What I like:

  • Buttery texture of the pearls
  • Looks very natural,  not too shimmery
  • Comes with a brush
  • Value for money

What I dislike:

  • Some might say the brush is a little small

Overall: Since this is my first bronzer, I don't really have anything to compare it to. It does work pretty well on my pale face. I mainly used it to give my face the tan look. My face is so weird, it's like 3-4 shades lighter than my neck and shoulders. It actually looks like I got my face whiten or something.

Do you use bronzers?

China Glaze and Essie Nail Polish

The last two weeks, I been stalking a store called Cosmetic Fragrance Direct for China Glaze and Essie Nail Polish. They are located in Southern Cross and South Wharf DFO Melbourne. I'm not one that normally buys a lot of nail polish because I'm lazy and can never be bothered waiting for my nails to dry. But when I saw these babies for $7 (China Glaze) and $6 (Essie) each, I could not resist and bought colours I would potentially use lol. I've seen Essie at Myer for $18.95 and being the stingy asian I am, I will never purchase at that price considering that there is a very high chance I will not even use it.

This isn't a swatch or review post because my nails are not very pretty and it feels weird posting pics of them lol Maybe one day, I'll apply it on some fake nails to show you guys the colours.

I did manage to try Secret Peri Wink & Peach Daiquiri and both consistency were really good. Secret Peri Wink started chipping after 3 days (with base & top coat). I have Peach Daiquiri on since Friday night and it's still going strong. Very happy with my purchases!

They also had Essie gift packs which contains 4 miniature polishes for $5. I bought two of the gift packs for my blogiversary giveaway in 2 months time! Man time has sure flew by, can't believe my blog is almost one!

Hope you guys had a lovely weekend!
As always thanks for reading!!!

Review: LUSH Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask

Happy Thursday!!!! I am back to using LUSH Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask! Smarter too when picking the fresh mask, I open to see what the consistency is like before I buy it. Sometimes they look kinda runny, this one was pretty good.

Lush website "An effective, exfoliating face mask which gives normal to oily skin a softened, smoothed and radiant glow. Polishing almond shell is balanced by the softening qualities of almond oil and seaweed gel. With soothing lavender essential oil and the cleansing, tightening action of Fullers’ Earth, you’ll feel fresh in no time".
Sorry photos are a little blurry, took these a few months ago lol

Application: I apply it the same way as other masks - use a clean utensil (I use my hands), apply it all over face except eye area then leave it for around 10mins, wash off the mask using circular motion with your hands.

Additional info:
  • Made in Australia
  • RRP $15.95 75g
  • Not tested on animals

What I like:

  • Does not irritate my skin
  • Leaves skin feeling really soft and smooth
  • Lovely scent
  • Does a really good job at exfoliating
  • I feel like it helps minimise my pores, could be just me though
  • Fresh and natural ingredients

What I dislike:
  • I guess the 2-3 week expiry

Overall: I find that my face is still really smooth even after 2-3days. I wouldn't use this more than twice a week though, the exfoliating parts in it seems quite powerful. So far this and BB seaweed are my favourite mask from Lush.

Almost weekend again!! wooo!
